Going Dark

Hi!

I hope ya'll had a nice Labor Day weekend! I spent mine battling a nasty head cold and helping my father-in-law unpack. Besides those very "exciting" things, it was a nice weekend. My sister-in-law came into town and we got to spent some quality time together. It was really the first time we have gotten to hang out and really get to know each other. She lives in New York and visits mostly on holidays and since I have only been married 1 1/2 years... you get the point. While she was here, my husband was out of town. He went to Dallas to see the Michigan/Alabama game. Unfortunately, it was a sad day for him since Alabama stomped Michigan.

Well, I am proud to say that this weekend we made some strides on the house. We picked out paint colors! My dear husband and I agreed that we wanted a dark color in the kitchen since there is going to be so much white. The cabinets are white and we are planning on putting up a white backsplash. I think the contrast will look nice and it shouldn't be too overwhelming since there is limited wall space. The color we chose is Benjamin Moore Shaker Gray. The color is in the picture below.

The more I look around online and on Pinterest I find myself drawn to the dark/contrasty kitchen.

Well, what do you think? It is certainly a small break away from the white and bright kitchen that are very popular right now. We hope to start painting this week! I will show you how it looks.

P.S. My internet/tv provider sucks! I won't name names but our internet and tv only work about 15% of the time we are home. The service men have been out multiple times and still nothing has changed. It is getting very annoying. We are having another company install new internet/cable this week so I will be "plugged in" again.

I am advocating for Google Fiber to hurry up and get their service up and going. If you haven't heard of Google Fiber you should look into it. They are going to provide super fast internet and also tv options. It is pretty fantastic. We are expected to have access to it within the year. I was so excited that I picked up a Google Fiber Bunny. My neighbors have yard signs but the Google Fiber office was all out of signs when I stopped by so I settled for a sticker.

I love this little guy!

Hope you have a great day!

  1. That color will look great in your new white kitchen--good choice!
I am looking forward to hearing how Google Fiber works once you guys get hooked up.

Also, we're heading to Napa/Sonoma on Saturday--reminds me of our awesome trip together earlier this year!
